It is what every person carries into the room, already, before anyone has decided whether to acknowledge it or not. This charter exists because that truth needed to be said in writing, somewhere someone could find it. I am the first signature on this charter—not to stand in front of anyone, but because I would not ask a single person to walk through a door I had not already walked through myself.
